Hey ya’ll! Welcome to my crazy journey we call life! Let me share with you a little bit about my story. I was raised in a small town in Tennessee and love all things southern. I swore I would never leave my home state, but God had different plans. The Lord very clearly called me to move to Florida and attend Southeastern University. Within my first week of being at Southeastern I met my forever love, Paul Johnson. We were married in November of 2013 and shortly after we dove into full time ministry as youth pastors. We loved those kids so much and being a part of their lives was an incredible blessing. However almost two years later, the Lord called us to make a big move across the country. So we packed up everything we owned and drove the 1,000 miles to Indianapolis, Indiana. We have been here in Indy since February of 2016 and we are loving the Hoosier life!
I find great joy in all things creative. From restoring antique furniture, to writing songs, to experimenting with water colors- I just love it all. Bible journaling has been one of the best things I ever discovered! However, more than anything else, my heart burns for two things: corporate worship and encouraging women. I love to incorporate creativity into both of these areas and watch the Lord move.
The past several years, Paul and I walked through a very difficult season due to a severe form of endometriosis that I have. This has been an ongoing issue for me since I was eighteen. Since I was diagnosed in 2011 I have undergone three surgeries, multiple hormonal treatments and fertility treatments. The process has been long, exhausting, and heartbreaking, but on November 23, 2016 we found out we were going to have a miracle baby! On August 8, 2017 we welcomed our greatest gift ever, David Christopher Johnson. My battle with endometriosis continues, but I walk with confidence knowing that my Father is faithful to His promises.
Just a side note, I normally am not a big fan of blogs. I feel like many times they portray perfection that is unattainable or talk about surface-level topics. I can tell you upfront that is not how this blog will be. I love a good latte, but you will not be seeing photos of my picture perfect lattes here. I’ve always been a girl who values vulnerability and authenticity. When I was fifteen, I wrote song lyrics that said “I’m hating fake and loving real, telling you just how I feel.” I hope for this to be true in this blog as I share with you some thoughts and stories about my journey. I’m so glad to have you along for the ride!
